Additional information

No previous detailed model of flow batteries had been developed. This paper has been requested numerous times by international authors interested in extending the work. It has been cited by leading groups in flow batteries including Maria Kazacos at UNSW. It was the basis for the COMSOL Multiphysics module ‘v flow battery’ (citation to appear in next edition of documentation; contact Edmund Dickinson support@comsol.com). This and subsequent work led to a personal invitation to the UK-China Workshop on ‘The Future of Energy Storage and Policy’ held by the Royal Society of Engineering and Chinese Academy of Sciences (Jan 2011).
