Bending strength of hot-rolled elliptical hollow sections

The work reported in this paper was funded by TATA Steel (UK Ltd). The results were adopted in TATA Steel design guidelines published in three different versions in accordance with the American Standards, British Standards and European Standards (Trevor Mustard, trevor.mustard@tatasteel.com). The findings also contributed to the Steel Building Design: Design Data published by the Steel Construction Institute, TATA Steel and the British Constructional Steelwork Association Ltd. The results were also adopted in the Euro codes Non-Conflicting Complementary Information to be incorporated in future Euro code 3 for the design of steel structures.
