Additional information

<04>This article extends the range of typical passive optical network systems beyond 25 kms in fibre transmission. The interest of the results for multiple wireless communications systems was reflected in the final report of the European research project ICT-UCELLS FP7-ICT-216785 having 11 partners (7 industries, e.g., Wisair and Agilent). These results were included in the rationale of successful proposal ICT-FIVER FP7-ICT249142 in 2010 consisting of 5 academics and 6 industrial partners (e.g. HTW Dresden and DAS Photonics). Dr Perez was awarded with the Best Thesis Award for Spanish Young Investigator “Ciutat d’Algemesí 2010 Premi Cientifico-Técnic” 5th edition for these results.
