This study provides an original paradigm ('intersectional history') for the history of Cuban sexuality, widely based on methodological and historiographical sources from gender history, oral history, Cuban and Latin American history, history of sexuality, anthropology, feminist theory, queer theory and memory studies. It required:

•six years of primary research, including four research trips to Cuba;

•close analysis of 40 oral history interviews conducted with Cuban Voices collective oral history research project;

•further time for team meetings and collaborative interview interpretation, as required by the methodology;

•selected readings/viewings of Cuban press (Granma, Bohemia, Mujeres), literature and film in Cuba, Spain, UK.
