Additional information

This paper presented unsteady heat transfer and pressure measurements in a high speed, high pressure turbine stage which are compared with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) predictions. There are very few high speed turbine studies that report the unsteady heat transfer and pressure in the presence of inlet temperature non-uniformity. The numerical study was conducted by the University of Florence in collaboration with ONERA to compare capabilities and limitations of CFD codes for such flows. This research led to further contracts to extend the research to more enhanced non-uniform inlet temperatures and swirled inlet flows (TATEF2 – EU 6th Framework Programme).
