Additional information

<23> This paper builds on theoretical work presented in an earlier output (submitted as output 2) and provides strong experimental evidence of the significance of using colour space measures to enhance the performance of video surveillance algorithms. In particular, the reported results indicate that the use of colour spaces leads to a much improved robustness to variations in ambient illumination intensity, when tracking objects. The use of automated surveillance systems is an increasing feature of our modern societies, this research makes a contribution to this important area.
