Additional information

<23>This paper is the result of the collaboration between expertise in computer science (Middlesex, Athen, Greece), physics (University of Cambridge) and medicine (at University of Cambridge, and in China) to provide a clear understanding of the mechanisms of PET images, under the TIME project funded by EU FP6 under Aisa-link scheme. This work has led directly to the BRIDGE project funded by the British Council on head motion correction for PET images, and two JISC funded projects MIRAGE and MIRAGE II. Additionally the WIDTH project was funded by EU FP7, to supply insight knowledge to further characterize high dimensional medical images in order to provide higher accuracy of diagnosis in a timely fashion.
