Additional information

<23>This is the first paper to recognise the accuracy of CIE colour appearance models CIECAM in image processing applications since their standardization in 1997 and 2003. It addresses key issues in defining ambient parameters while applying the models under various viewing environments. The work is the result of collaboration of scientists in colour imaging (UK) and neuroinformatics (Russia) within the project funded by the Royal Society UK under the scheme of international exchange programme. Subsequently, the work has resulted in the development of a prototype software for traffic sign recognition, which has led directly to further funding from the British Council (BRIDGE: http://www.mitime.org/bridge/) on head motion correction for PET images, in collaboration with the same partners in Russia.
