Additional information

Funded by EPSRC (studentship 07001545) and the Lloyd's Register Educational Trust, this research presents the first description of a graphene ring microelectrode (prepared using our Hummers method-based route to graphene) with an integrated Ag/AgCl reference electrode fabricated using a photo-induced electro-deposition method (developed as part of the MBASE project, EP/I002928/1). It advances the knowledge of graphene’s electrochemical behaviour and assesses its use in sensor applications. The sensor is proposed for use in process control, environmental monitoring and in vivo studies. It has led to further funding through the Centre for Global Eco-Innovation of a CASE studentship with Nanoflex Ltd (neville.freeman@nanoflex.com).
