Estimation of age-related vulnerability to air pollution: Assessment of respiratory health at local scale
The research generated dose-response relationships for the elderly population of Leeds and contributed to strengthening the database which the DoH Committee on Medical Effects of Air Pollution uses to estimate disease burden in the UK. The research has attracted PhD funding from the Saudi Arabian government (contact: mayya@uksacb.org; 020324970018) to generate
dose-response curves for Al-Jubail city. This PhD is supervised by the lead author in collaboration with the Institute of Health and Society, Newcastle University, paving the way for cross-disciplinary research between medical and environmental sciences(further PhD funding via a Sir James Knott Scholarship).
