Additional information

In addition to his essay (pp. 103-22), Humphries’ contribution to the research published in this volume is demonstrable in that with co-editor Gavin he envisaged the project and engaged in the research expressed in the Introduction (pp1-20) that challenges assumptions that Edwardian writing is simply a continuation of the Victorian or the start of the Modern. This research demonstrates the centrality of childhood to Edwardian fiction. That his research has made the book a unified and substantial contribution to scholarship is evidenced by the volume being awarded the inaugural American Children’s Literature Association Edited Book Award in 2011.
