Cell dimensions and composition of nanocrystalline calcium silicate hydrate solid solutions. Part 1: Synchrotron-based x-ray diffraction
This paper won the 2009 Stephen Brunauer Award for the best publication in the field of cement science within a American Ceramic Society journal. The citation stated that it was awarded because of the "combination of both careful experimental observation and thorough theoretical analysis".
The paper is from an ongoing collaboration with Karlsruhe Insitute of Technology, Germany. The work in this project underpins the development of Celitement, an alternative to Portland cement (as cited by P. Stemmermann, U. Schweike, K. Garbev, G. Beuchle, Cement International 8(5), 2010, 52-66, and Der Spiegel 31, 2010, p128).
