Analysis in practical usability evaluation: A survey study
<20>This paper earned "Honorable Mention" in CHI’12. A main result is that prevailing usability evaluation methods (UEMs) are often substantially modified when applied to industrial projects. A significant implication is that usability researchers need to set their research agenda based on practitioners' requirements rather than vice versa, as traditionally assumed. For example, a recent publication addressing the well-known phenomenon of "evaluator effect” co-authored by a pioneering usability practitioner [Hertzum, Molich & Jacobsen, Behaviour&IT, forthcoming] cites our paper to support their arguments. Further insights into how UEMs should be developed and how usability data should be analysed have been gained.
