This is the major product of an AHRC-funded project on “Early British Public Library Buildings” (B/RG/AN8106/APN16528, duration 2003-06). Pepper (PI) and Black (CI) each wrote approximately 45% of the text, Bagshaw (RA) another 10% plus the Gazetteer giving details of over 1,000 library buildings dating from 1850 to World War II. The writing of the book involved some six years’ work.
