Intellectual Culture in Medieval Paris: Theologians and the University, c. 1100-1330
This book is the result of twenty years research. It deploys a substantial body of material, including technically difficult manuscripts. It cuts across conceptual boundaries that have separated various fields of study and thus framed most existing works on medieval intellectual culture. It engages with secondary works in a range of disciplines and constitutes a re-interpretation of over two hundred years of intellectual history. It sets a new agenda and reshapes the narrative in its field. A work of this scale and scope could not be produced within the normal REF cycle along with three other outputs of high quality.
