This paper investigates predictive control for networked control systems with random communication delays via output feedback. The time-varying predictive controller with mixed random delays for networked systems is presented to compensate for the network-induced delay using the networked predictive control scheme. Several new techniques are proposed to deal with the distributed delay in the discrete-time domain so that the designed predictive time-varying output feedback controller can guarantee system stability. The results of the paper have been extended to networked multi-agent control systems and have resulted in another journal paper to be published in IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control.
