Additional information

This paper describes a one-dimensional Vanadium polymer that binds hydrogen by the Kubas interaction. The major breakthrough is that this new material, replaces hydrazine (used in paper 2) with oxamide, a safer alternative. Similar activities as observed in paper 2 are achieved with greater safety. Also the first unequivocal spectroscopic evidence of Kubas binding in the framework of an extended solid is also provided, proving the adsorption mechanism described in papers 1 and 2, while also demonstrating for the first time that the Kubas interaction is not limited to molecular systems.
