Additional information

This paper reports research conducted with Dunlop Aircraft Tyres Limited (DATL) to develop a validated finite element model of an aircraft tyre. The project followed on from the research with Airbus (Paper 3) developing a low parameter tyre model. The new physical tyre model developed here was validated using tests performed at DATL and provided the company (Marcos Hancock, Technical Director, Marcos.Hancock@dunlopatl.co.uk) with a new design capability to use a virtual tool and predict the loading on an aircraft wheel before a physical tyre prototype exists. The tyre model has been implemented in the design and research group at DATL.
