Additional information

This paper demonstrates practical application of modelling developed in outputs 2 and 3. The key limitation of the ASTM C1202 test is that, use of common cement replacements like pulverised fuel ash in the concrete leads to inaccurate results. This deficiency could be used by contractors to enable sub-standard concretes to “pass” the test. The paper presents a full theoretical description of the effect of using cement replacements, explains why they affect results and proposes a modification to the test which uses the model to overcome the limitation. These 4 papers are being incorporated into a research monograph (in press).
