African city textualities
Author contribution:
This collection (an extended version of a journal special issue) merges the concerns of urban, literary, and cultural studies by focusing on the flows and exchanges of texts and textual elements in and around Africa’s cities. I devised the volume rationale, made sure contributions were from all parts of Africa, invited cultural practitioners as well as academics from a wide range of locations, managed copyright permissions for visual material, had the chapters independently refereed and worked extensively with contributors on refining each contribution. My own chapter is an unprecedented exploration of literariness, genre, and urbanity in postcolonial Zambia.
