An analysis of modern creep lifing methodologies in the titanium alloy Ti6-4
Published in a leading international materials science journal (IF: 2.108), this paper focuses on a novel approach to creep lifing and examines the capability of the recently formulated Wilshire equations to extrapolate to increased temperatures when compared to more established power law and hyperbolic tangent methods. With the overall goal of demonstrating the Wilshire equations to be the most effective creep lifing technique available, and hence offering significant impact to the field of power generation, the current paper provides a first critical analysis of the application of the technique to a high performance aerospace alloy.
