Additional information

This paper deals with the engineering of functional tissues for repair, replacement and rejuvenation of damaged or ageing tissues/organs. The work is a follow-on from an article published in Small, V2(2006) 216-219. The research on which the paper is based has received national and international patents (PCT/GB2006/00293 1 and WO 2007/017653 A1) and has also recently been awarded a New Horizon Grant from the British Heart Foundation (NH/11/3/29033). This work received much press coverage, which was featured in the BBC under Health and in Reader Digest. The work is currently being considered for clinical utility for regenerating functional vessels.
