This work, funded by UK Dept. of Health, represents continuing collaboration with Smith & Nephew (UK) through David Farrar, Biomaterials Manager, who maintains his company's interests from previous projects. The present study investigates surface changes that offer advantages for surface characteristics likely to provoke active healing responses by contacting tissues. This work will provide the main content of an invited technical presentation at IMRP2013, Shanghai.
