Additional information

This is the first application of the Anodized Aluminium Pressure Sensitive Paint (AA-PSP) technique to unsteady hypersonic flows using novel paint formulations. It offers global surface pressure maps in real time, and the potential to reduce costs in the development of aerospace vehicles. The work was funded by an EPSRC EngD and Rolls-Royce, Derby. It led to a new grant on PSP techniques for the design of compressor blades funded by EPSRC-DTA and Rolls-Royce, Bristol under the 'Erica' FP7 programme, and a keynote presentation at the 5th Symposium on Applied Aerodynamics and Design of Aerospace Vehicles (Bangalore, India 2011, http://sarodonline.org/2011/).
