Additional information

The paper describes the design and development of ultra-fast optical flip-flops for applications in all-optical processing, building on micro-ring laser research supported by EPSRC (GR/S63533/01)  and EU FP6 STREP (IST-03474) . The research outcomes formed a substantial part of invited presentations delivered at major International Conferences, including CLEO/Europe – IQEC (Munich, Germany 2009), IEEE Photonics Society Annual Meeting (Arlington, Virginia 2011) and the prestigious “Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Diode Laser” (Warwick, U.K. 2012), and led to the publication of a chapter in the book “Micro-lasers” (Wiley).
