Additional information

We show for the first time the integration of surface plasmon resonance filters with CMOS photodiodes. The results provide a new route for colour sensitizing CMOS focal plane arrays using only a single lithographic process. STMicroelectronics has since sponsored a student (2012) to take the technology forward. The research contributed to the award of an EPSRC grant (EP/J018678/1, £1.434M) with partners Selex, Plessey, STMicroelectronics, GSS Ltd and Logitech. Cumming was invited to talk at EIPBN (Nashville 2013) and IEEE NEMS (Suzhou 2013) as a consequence of the work.
