Additional information

This paper is an investigation of how the motility of fish sperm changes when the sperm are close to microscope slide walls, as is the case in the majority of scientific and clinical assessments of motility and fertility. The paper puts forward hydrodynamic reasons to explain the observed measurements of motility. This international collaboration with the University of South Bohemia (Contact: Sergey Boryshpolets, sboryshpolets@frov.jcu.cz), reports both experimental work undertaken at the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters in the Czech Republic and hydrodynamic analysis undertaken at the University of Glasgow, funded by a number of Czech research grants.
