Double-weighted statement

Request double-weight. The research for this report required access to, and evaluation of, sources beyond the normal range for historians. The report required the identification and assessment of confidential primary medical records relating to individual operations and treatment, accessed with the permission and cooperation of the relevant maternity hospitals in Ireland. The report therefore represents a somewhat unusual methodological integration of modern medical research, with historical analysis. The report was first published for consultation on 14 June 2012 on the Irish Department of Health website: http://www.dohc.ie/press/releases/2012/20120614.html. It was also published in June 2012 on the following site: http://cdn.thejournal.ie/media/2012/06/Walsh-report.pdf."
