Double-weighted statement

120,000 words. It synthesizes approaches across a range of neighboring disciplines, from law and anthropology to performance studies. The number and diversity of archives/sources used are unusually high. The latter range from personal papers to contemporary newspapers and pamphlets, to government and parliamentary records and legislation, to records of professional self-government and disciplinary organs, to the internal communications and administration of contemporary political parties. The book draws on a whole range of court files concerning many hundreds of cases. It took three years to research and write.
