Double-weighted statement

This monograph has 110,000 words and took 10 years to research and write. It pioneers a new methodology, which integrates analysing existing Renaissance dress to understand its historical meanings, and moreover cover much of the lesser known visual evidence of the period as well as snippets of information drawn together from diverse source materials. It argues that dress can be studied for groups beyond the top elites as part of a dynamic cultural tradition integral to the Renaissance.
