Das Publikationsaufkommen der Zeitschrift fur Padagogik im deutsch-englischen Vergleich
This paper presents the results of work undertaken in the context of two competitive grants awarded by the German Research Association (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft - DFG), won in collaboration with colleagues from the Universities of Munich and Oldenburg. According to SSCI the publishing journal Zeitschrift fur Padagogik was most highly cited German journal in education over the last decade. The paper led to an invitation to present the research findings in the context of a 'DFG Colloquium' event in Munich in October 2013.
This article presents selected results of an analysis of papers published in six leading journals of education in Germany and England. All articles published in these journals between 2001 and 2009 (around 2000 in total) were analysed according to thematic foci, methodological approaches and characteristics of authors. The findings demonstrate that there are clear differences and similarities in publication patterns between different journals and countries and that some of these patterns have changed substantially over time. The comparative perspective used for the analysis results in conclusions regarding nation-specific trajectories of the discourse and research in the area of education.
