Additional information
This paper is the first to report the successful use of a CW fibre laser to produce nanoparticles. Up to this time other researchers were seeking to use far more expensive and complex ultra-short-pulse lasers. The titanium-oxide nanoparticles were produced in water from a titanium metal plate. The paper reports on the dimensions of these particles. The importance is that these high brightness CW fibre lasers offer better average power scalability and so higher production rates can be realised for industrial applications compared to those achievable using pulsed laser systems.
