Additional information
The paper presents the results of comprehensive experimental studies of temporal variations in the flocculation characteristics of cohesive sediment suspensions and cohesive and non-cohesive sediment fraction mixtures. This was achieved using a unique, purpose-built, settling tank with the capability of generating controlled hydrodynamic conditions using a rigid array of in-phase oscillating grids. This work was funded by EPSRC (EP/D041821/1) and provides the necessary insight and essential data for validation of theoretical models.
