Modelling archaeology and palaeoenvironments in wetlands : The hidden landscape archaeology of Hatfield and Thorne Moors, eastern England
If only one of the double-weighting requests is accepted, 'Iconoclasm in European Prehistory?' should be assessed as reserve.
A sizeable, data-rich volume addressing the challenges of exploring the archaeology of hidden landscapes. It investigates the two largest areas of raised mire in Britain and combines multiple approaches and data sources to model environmental change, human-landscape interactions, site location choice and the predictions of wet-preserved archaeological remains for the future. It is the first study of its kind and has considerable implications for researchers investigating peatlands (culturally and environmentally) globally, with tools that are transferable to other hidden landscapes. It represents the results and conclusions from a decade of fieldwork and research, integrating a range of interdisciplinary approaches.
