The minimum information about a genome sequence (MIGS) specification
<16>This paper resulted from the work of the Genomic Standards Consortium (GSC), formed to tackle the issues surrounding the development of better descriptions of genomic investigations. Kennedy’s work on the Taxonomic Concept Schema detailed in the impact case study formed the basis of the naming convention used in the MIGS standard. MIGS is supported by over 20 international databases and tools including the Genomes Online Database, The International Nucleotide Sequence Collaboration and the Standards in Genomic Science journal which requires MIGS for the publication of all genome papers and has published over 50 MIGS-compliant genome reports.
