Additional information

The research paper provides a mathematical formulation and analysis of the dynamic optimal power flow (OPF) developed for and implemented on the Shetland Islands within Scottish and Southern Energy’s (SSE) Northern Isles New Energy Solutions (NINES) project [http://www.sse.com/Lerwick/NINES/, £46M ( £500k to Strathclyde), 2011-2013, colin.mathieson@sse.com]. This was the first application of inter-temporal OPF used in the real operation of distribution networks to include generation curtailment, scheduling of small demand and storage, as well as a non-linear distribution network.
