Additional information

Original research on distributed control in the context of power system Active Network Management. The paper proposes and demonstrates, using ScottishPower [Geoff.Murphy@SPPowerSystems.com] and EDF Energy Networks [peter.lang@ukpowernetworks.co.uk] case studies, a control algorithm based on a solution of the Constraint-Satisfaction Problem formulated for renewable generation curtailment. The results are gained robustly through applied theory and laboratory software/hardware experimentation, and have initiated related control architecture/algorithm research though an EPSRC project [EP/I031650/1, £3.4M, 2011-2016] and a 1-year research programme in the £12M Power Networks Demonstration Centre set up in 2012 at Strathclyde University.
