Additional information

This research investigates fault ride-through of DFIG wind turbines. A control technique is proposed and demonstrated that allows enhanced utilisation of crowbar protection and power electronic converters during faults. The research is an outcome from a visiting student hosted and supervised at Strathclyde, with support from the Mexican Research Council [£11.4k, 2008-2009]. This external support underpinned the recruitment of two follow-on PhD students in this research area and has supported other wind energy-related projects [e.g. Mexican Ministry of Economy, £50k, 2010-2011].
