Additional information

This research paper expands upon a publication that won the Best Paper Award at the XIX International Conference on Electrical Machines (ICEM) 2010. For the first time, this research presents the design, modelling, optimisation and test of a linear permanent magnet generator for a direct-drive wave-power device, including both the thermal and structural elements of the machine that are critical considerations in the production of robust, power-dense generators that can deliver low-cost-of-energy wave and tidal power devices.
