Additional information

This research resulted in an exceptionally high-density, transparent microelectrode array, which was a critical component for the acquisition of the data required for this analysis (high-resolution, single-unit activity from hundreds of neurons simultaneously). The array is capable of recording from smaller classes of retinal ganglion cells than commercially available systems. Recognition of the importance of this device to neuroscience is demonstrated by invitations from this community to present at departmental seminars (UC Berkeley, USA (11/2010) and Max-Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics, Germany (06/2011)).
