Additional information

First demonstration of Raman conversion of semiconductor disk lasers; a novel and broadly applicable way to extend wavelength coverage. Generated interest in both the semiconductor and solid-state laser fields, leading to invited talks at Photonics West 2012 (San Francisco) and the German Physical Society Annual Meeting 2012 (Berlin). This generated interest from TU-Eindhoven [E.A.J.M.Bente@tue.nl]. They develop optical coherence tomography systems for high-resolution imaging, requiring tunable lasers within the tissue transmission window. As a result, Prof. Bente co-opted Hastie onto the user panel of his nationally funded research programme [Dutch Technology Foundation (STW) Project 11360, €1M, 4 years].
