Additional information

This research involved a multi-disciplinary collaboration within Strathclyde linking Mathematics, Analytical Chemistry and Ultrasonics. This paper gives a rigorous description of a non-invasive route for real-time process monitoring within the pharmaceutical industry. As a result of this publication the team has developed strong industrial links in the field of acoustic/ultrasonic systems resulting in a collaborative KE project (2013-14) with BP plc [edo.becker@uk.bp.com] to transfer acoustic monitoring techniques into the company and participation in a £2.5m EPSRC grant in manufacturing of crystallisation processes [EP/K014250/1, 2013-18], including partners GlaxoSmithKline plc, AstraZeneca plc and Loughborough University.
