Significance of output:

A framework, combining finite element mesh morphing, design of computer experiments and Bayesian modelling, was proposed to predict hip implant micromotions and bone strains. This led to the award of 18-month contract with Cetim [1] and Simpleware Ltd [2] for developing improved and experimentally validated hip stems (£190,713). This contributed to Simpleware Ltd sustained growth (40%) over the past three years. A year-EPSRC Impact Acceleration grant was awarded for a postdoctoral secondment to Simpleware Ltd (£55,500) to develop image-based tools for automatic anatomic measurements to capture variability across the population.
