Congestion Control in Wireless Sensor Networks based on Bird Flocking Behaviour
<22> Published in an influential journal with H-index of 70. This work represents a new approach to dealing with heavy traffic and congestion around obstacles in wireless networks. This solution is based on the metaphor of flocking birds. The algorithm has been tested by simulating large-scale industrial models of transmission of data over networks and applying the algorithm to a wide variety of network conditions. The algorithm outperformed conventional top-down protocols without parameter tuning, demonstrating its effectiveness, scalability and adaptability. This work was supported by a grant from the Cyprus Research Foundation.
