Additional information

The paper demonstrates the first application of Large Eddy Simulation (LES) in a bio-fluid. The work proves how the transient nature of pulsatile blood flow is better simulated by LES, thus enabling collaborators at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, specialising in clinical radiology (Contact: Dr Giles Roditi, Giles.Roditi@ggc.scot.nhs.uk) to more fully understand the physical roles and impacts of the turbulent blood flow in human atherosclerotic artery. The work reported in the paper was recognised by the Committee of the 16th Mathematics Conference in Dhaka (http://www.buet.ac.bd/math/mathconf09/) and led to an invited presentation.
