Double-weighted statement

This book is an interpretation of the history of Indic religions until ca. 1200 CE, with particular focus on yogic and tantric traditions. It seeks to understand these traditions in terms of the total social and religious context of South Asian society during this period including the religious practices of the general population with their close engagement in family, gender and economic life. In ca. 150,000 words the book develops a series of detailed, complex and sustained arguments which are not only the result of many years of research, but offer a comprehensive scope to a vast subject area.
