Additional information

This book has a series of contributions surrounding product and market opportunities associated with an ageing population. The paper introduces the subject of empathetic design and the concept of empathetic horizons. Two techniques are proposed to address the need to empower people's everyday experiences through their interaction with products. The first is to involve real people associated with the audiences for the products and the second is empathetic modelling for designers to put themselves in the shoes of others when they design.
