Buzzing to play: lessons learned from an in the wild study of real-time vibrotactile feedback
<20>This work was published at CHI 2011, (acceptance 26%). The original contribution of this paper lies in its focus on the evaluation method for a tactile real-time feedback system to support the learning of musical skills which was 'in the wild' as opposed to controlled lab studies. The research makes an important contribution towards multi-modal feedback systems becoming available for realistic usage. Our evaluation method has encouraged and motivated other researchers to test their work in-the-wild, such as Pielot (CHI2012) for the evaluation of a tactile navigation system and Spelmezan (MobileHCI 2012) for tactile feedback to support snowboarders.
