This paper demonstrated a new way to develop compact tuneable visible laser sources. This result has been produced during the FAS-DOT project (€14.7M), coordinated by Prof. Rafailov, in collaboration with leading European and USA companies. The proposed novel compact tuneable laser in the visible wavelength range has been patented. This work has been identified as a new possible multi-photon source for microscopy applications. As such it will be assessed as a training project within, (and hence has in part led to the award of) the new FP7 PHOQUS ITN project (€3.8M).
