Additional information

<06> Published in the leading Journal for rapid dissemination of advances in Electronics, this paper proposes a novel enabling technology for future terrestrial wireless access networks operating at frequencies 10 to 50 GHz, which are subject to significant signal loss in rain. The result of extensive experimentation, modelling and analysis, the paper specifies a mechanism of cooperation amongst multiple geographically-dispersed base stations to mitigate rain attenuation. It is the basis of a grant application in preparation to develop hand-over algorithms to support the expected roll-out of cellular communication services that exploit the huge radio spectrum at frequencies above 10 GHz.
